Floating restaurants which have been removed for polluting Hanoi’s West Lake have been left to rust while awaiting a decision on their future by the municipal authorities.

It has been more than one year since Hanoi authorities requested floating restaurants to stop operations on West Lake along Nguyen Dinh Thi Street.

Many floating restaurants have been removed to Dam Bay in Nhat Tan Ward. However, most of them have been left to rust, polluting the area.

The closure of the services has resulted in losses of billions of VND for businesses. Meanwhile, many floating restaurants still have valid business licences.

To date, businesses are still waiting for a decision about what will happen to the floating restaurants.
