Quang Ba, Hanoi’s biggest flower market is becoming busy before International Women's Day on March 8.

Hundreds of retail buyers and traders flocked to the market to sell or buy flowers. Vehicles can hardly travel inside the crowded outdoor market.

Nguyen Thi Thuy, a trader at Quang Ba Market, said the flower prices this year were a bit higher than previous Women's Days due to a surge in retail demand. A bouquet of 50 red roses is sold for VND500,000 (USD22), VND350,000 for white roses and VND150,000 for 10 lilies. The retail price for a rose is VND10,000 to VND20,000.

Various types of flowers have been brought to Quang Ba from many flower villages such as Tay Tu and Me Linh. Some traders also sell flowers from Da Lat Province.
