Hanoi Chairman Tran Sy Thanh has worked with the competent agencies, asking them to report the progress of these long-stalled projects to the municipal government before October is out.

The leader of the Hanoi government ordered harsh sanctions on organizations and individuals who fail to fulfill duties and on investors who delay construction.

Chairman Thanh also asked the relevant units to put forward solutions to expedite the construction of long-stalled projects in the city.

The Hanoi Department of Planning and Industry was tasked with monitoring projects whose land has been handed over, while the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment is in charge of projects for which land is yet to be handed over.

Major projects must be implemented first, said the leader of the municipal government.

Among these long-delayed projects, 135 projects have no land handed over, so the city’s competent agencies are stepping up procedures to ensure many projects are implemented smoothly.

Meanwhile, the city’s competent agencies have urged investors to address problems facing the projects for which land was already handed over. Some of the total 404 projects have seen land taken back.

Besides, over 170 others have been kept under supervision, the local media reported.
