The city has invested 6 million USD in 2016 in a project to restore the Thanh Long royal citadel with the engagement of Belgium’s Boydens Engineering company, he noted during a meeting with the Belgian ambassador in Hanoi on December 20, which was also attended by two Belgian construction and architecture firms of Boydens Engineering and VK.
It is considered one of the city’s major projects, aiming to turn the site into a tourism centre of Hanoi, said Chung.
He revealed that Hanoi has also prepared resources for the project in the 2016-2020 period, added that it will re-launched in January 2017.
Ambassador Jehanne Roccas conveyed her confidence that the Belgian firms will show strong performance in cooperation projects with Hanoi.
She expressed her hope that Hanoi will support the project to establish the first European university in the city and Vietnam.
The Hanoi leader pledged that the city will help seek suitable locations for the project, adding that Belgian companies can also join a number of local projects in health care as Hanoi is planning the construction and upgrade of a number of hospitals to European standards.
He affirmed that the city is encouraging the involvement of society in the health care sector, adding that projects to build a heart and pediatrics hospitals have been designed.
