These days, the beauty of ox-eye daisies (Cuc hoa mi) transform Hanoi city streets into picturesque portraits fit for a postcard.
Cuc Hoa Mi with their charming white petals can be found on virtually every corner in the City. The flower in full bloom in November, signals the beginning of winter. Ox-eye daisies have pure white petals surrounding a greenish yellow disc. They open their blossoms in early morning and close them in late afternoon. A bunch of ox-eye daisies sell for around US$2.20–US$2.65 (VND50,000-VND60,000). In Hanoi, the ox-eye daisy is popularly planted at the Nhat Tan and Tay Tuu flower gardens. The flowers make the City streets gorgeous and are a warm reminder that winter is not far away. Young people love taking photos with them. Street vendors deliver baskets full of ox-eye daisies around the City. |
