The Hanoi Department of Foreign Affairs has decided to remove its deputy director Nguyen Duc Hoang from his positive because Hoang has assailed former lecturer 76 year old Nguyen Khanh.

Dr. Khanh was seriously injured after the assault 

After receiving information from media upon the assault, the Department convened a meeting ordering deputy director Hoang to write a report of the case.

Additionally, while waiting for the result of police’s investigation, director of the Department decided to suspend him from work temporarily and he was removed from the position as the department received the police’s report of the case. 

On November 5, Dr. Khanh, a former lecturer at the Hanoi University of Technology, was walking down the street when he was crashed into by a woman on motorbike. They both suffered slight injuries.

Just a few minutes later, Hoang stepped out of a car rushing to beat the old man in the face. Just when passers-by stopped him, Hoang then said sorry to the old man and took him to hospital.

The 76-year-old lecturer was hospitalized and eventually had to receive seven stitches for the 7cm cut on his mouth.

After the assail, Hanoi's leaders asked the Department and police in Hai Ba Trung District and relevant agencies to verify the case and issue harsh penalty to attacker to the old man. 

In a press brief, director of the Department Pham Vinh Quang said that the case is very serious badly affecting the image of the department.
