Under initial investigation, Chong Hyun Chul lived in an apartment in Ha Noi’s Thanh Xuan District. He was chief executive officer of Wonder World Inc in Viet Nam and a representative of Hanoi Kyunghee Korean Traditional Medicine Clinic in Hà Nội, Vietnam Plus online newspaper reported.

He rented apartment A-4702 in Keangnam Landmark 72 and a room at the Somerset Plaza Hotel in Hanoi for examining and treating activities. The clinic was run without business permissions granted by Vietnamese agencies.

In the meantime, Hyun Chul’s two accomplices in South Korea, Shin Seung Ho and Kim Ki Chul, enticed South Korean cancer patients to come to the clinic in Viet Nam for cancer treatment.

The clinic was run between June 2016 and March 2017. During this time, it accepted five cancer patients for treatment, including Park Joong Ran, 56, a woman suffering from breast cancer. She was injected with a medicine that made by Kim Ki Chul. The medicine was not verified by any agency.

After returning to South Korea, Park realised that her health condition showed no improvement. She decided to denounce Chong Hyun Chul, Shin Seung Ho and Kim Ki Chul to South Korean police. Then Shin Seung Ho and Kim Ki Chul were arrested. Chong Hyun Chul was wanted by Interpol.
