VietNamNet Bridge – After an electronic store in Hanoi was fined $2,000 for using PR girls wearing swimsuit, a restaurant on Tran Thai Tong Street, Cau Giay District, Hanoi also hired PR girls wearing bikinis to pour beer and bring food to customers.

The waitresses in bikinis appeared at this restaurant on the evening of May 8. The sexy girls walked around the restaurant very naturally to pour beer, and serve food to customers, mainly men.

A representative of this restaurant said this was a special program to show the restaurant owner’s gratitude to customers.

The restaurant did the same as an electronic shop in Hanoi, though they knew that the electronic store was fined VND40 million ($2,000), the highest fine under the current regulations.

On May 10 the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s inspectors and the Cau Giay district authorities worked with the restaurant managers on the case.

Inspectors said that the restaurant will be fined.

Sexy bikinis net Tran Anh fine of VND40 million

The Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued a fine of VND40 million ($1,780) to Le Viet Chung, a representative of electronics retailers Tran Anh (TAG)’s marketing segment for employing promotional girls wearing bikinis in its advertising campaign, according to newswire Vneconomy.

The authorities instructed Chung to pay the fine payment within 10 days, otherwise they will use coercive measures.

According to a representative of the Hanoi Department of Culture Sports and Tourism, using women in swimwear to promote the company’s business was against Vietnam’s traditional culture and fine customs.

Along with the above fine, the department will also review and check the advertising activities of all Tran Anh stores in Hanoi.

In the last months, a series of photos and video clips showing five saleswomen, wearing bikinis, purportedly talking to customers, and even helping them park their vehicles at the Tran Anh store in Pham Hung street in Hanoi went viral on social media and received heated objection from the online community.

However, Ngo Thanh Dat, marketing director of TAG, claimed that the company, in cooperation with a public relations partner, was considering shooting a sex education video series targeting young people.

Dat said TAG chose a time where the store was the least crowded to shoot a demo video, and based on the quality of this sample would decide whether to go ahead with the plan. However, they did not expect that photos would be taken and posted on social media.
