Hanoi’s largest flower village busy as International Women’s Day approaches
Me Linh flower village, a site renowned as the largest wholesale market for flowers in the capital, has been bustling over recent days as it prepares for International Women’s Day, which falls on March 8 annually.
Spanning an area of around 200 hectares, gardeners in Me Linh flower village in Me Linh district of Hanoi grow different kinds of flower such as chrysanthemums, roses, and gladiolus.
Me Linh is known for being the biggest rose hub in Hanoi, with the site offering fresh flowers for the capital and other northern localities.
The roses are grown throughout the entire year, while others are seasonal flowers.
Drawing closer to International Women’s Day, traders based in Hanoi and other provinces flock to Me Linh in order to purchase flowers.
The flowers are both beautiful and plentiful, whilst they are also expected to bring in a high income for local farmers.
The prices of flowers ahead of International Women’s Day seem to be unchanged compared to normal days.
Red roses cost between VND5,000 and VND7,000 per bud, whilst the prices of other roses hovers around VND3,000 to VND5,000 per bud.
