More and more bubble tea brands are now trying to establish by investing in outlets with attractive designs in big cities, particularly Hanoi.

More bubble tea brands opened in Hanoi



Besides the popular names such as Feeling Tea and Ding Tea, the bubble tea market in Hanoi has also seen new brands such as Bobapop, Chago, Goky and Chevi.

O Cho Dua Street in Dong Da District which is quite short but is home to around 10 bubble tea shops of different brands.

There are more than 20 bubble tea brands in the capital city.

Two years after arriving in Vietnam, Gong Cha milk tea from Taiwan has 13 outlets, including eight belonging to the company and five franchises. 

Meanwhile, Ding Tea is the largest Taiwanese milk tea franchise in the country in terms of locations, with more than 90 outlets nationwide, of which 60 in Hanoi belong to the company and more than 30 outside of the capital are franchises.

According to a recent survey, people in Hanoi are more interested in milk tea rather than those in HCM City. 

Up to 53% among interviewed young people in Hanoi said that they drink milk tea at least once a week.

Over the past two years, more bubble tea brands have come back Vietnam with the majority from Taiwan. 

The trend has mostly been seen in the northern region such as Hanoi, Haiphong and the provinces of Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh and Phu Tho.

Nguyen Hoang Nam, a manager of a bubble tea shop in Hanoi, said that the business was not easy. 

New brands often face difficulties to compete with famous alternatives. Location was obviously vital.
