A photo book capturing the life of Hanoi in the 1980s by former UK diplomat John Ramsden will be launched in the time to come.
John Ramsden was the former UK ambassador to Vietnam in 1980s. Apart from being a diplomat, he is also seen as a photographer. Discovering daily life of Hanoians and local residents in neighbouring areas After ending his term in Vietnam, John Ramsden still recalls memoirs of Hanoi through photos. A hundred of photos of the capital city go on display in London and Hanoi. A photo collection will be compiled into a book about Hanoi. The book has 110 photos featuring landscapes and daily life of Hanoians from 1980 to 1982. Historian Duong Trung Quoc says these photos help Hanoians reminisce about what was going on 30 years ago. The book is considered a valuable document to help audiences learn more about Hanoi before the Doi Moi (Renewal) process, Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu says. British Council and other organisations are set to host an exchange with the diplomat on October 14 in Phan Huy Ich street, Hanoi with the participation of historian Duong Trung Quoc, professor Andrew Hardy, PHD Vu Thi Minh Huong and journalist Tuong Van. |
