The Government plans to develop Hanoi and the greater Red River region more to create a modern urban area associated with finance, culture and trade.

The plan aims to effectively use the land along both sides of the route to create a modern urban area associated with finance, culture and trade, further developing Hanoi and the greater Red River region.

Accordingly, the 11.1km route will run from Noi Bai International Airport to Nhat Tan Bridge and span an area of 1,810ha and 13 communes in Dong Anh and Soc Son districts.

The route will require an estimated VNĐ33 trillion (roughly US$1.55 billion) for infrastructure construction and land clearance, which is expected to be completed by 2025.

A trade complex accommodating financial, commercial and banking centers, hostels, luxury hospitals, cultural establishments and residential areas, with a 108-storey tower as the main development, is expected to be built.

At the announcement ceremony on Thursday, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said the project, approved by the Prime Minister, is important to Hanoi because it would help the city boost trade with its adjacent localities and the world at large via Noi Bai International Airport.

Chung said the approval and announcement of the planning scheme is an important step in concretising the Hanoi capital construction master plan for 2030, with a vision towards 2050, and other construction plans for urban subdivisions and Soc Son District.
