Hanoi has approved 21 infrastructure projects in the 2016-2020 period, including one to build a tunnel through the Red River dyke.

The tunnel will link Tran Nguyen Han and Chuong Duong Do streets in Hoan Kiem District


The project has a total investment of VND80-billion (USD3.47 million) tunnel, using the state budget. The tunnel for vehicles and pedestrians will link Tran Nguyen Han and Chuong Duong Do streets in Hoan Kiem District.     

The project is expected to be completed before October 10 next year on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day.

The project is related to the Red River dyke so Hanoi authorities will have to seek the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s opinions for the design and technical standards.

Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee have been assigned as the project investor.

The tunnel will be 18 metres wide, 16 metres long and 3.2 metres high.
