The Hanoi City People’s Committee announced a decision to establish a steering committee on building the municipal e-government on February 15.

According to Decision No.699/QD-UBND, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung will head the committee, while Vice Chairman Ngo Van Quy will be the deputy head. 

The committee will also be comprised of 12 permanent members.

In order to build an e-government and a smart city, Hanoi will establish a smart control centre with eight functional facilities in charge of information privacy and safety, support for officials in information technology use, press and communications information management, traffic monitor and crime prevention in public areas, public services management, information regarding firefighting, search and rescue, and healthcare. 

Chung said Hanoi set the target for 2019 that all people’s committees of wards, communes, and townships will hold teleconferences linked to the municipal People’s Committee, departments, agencies, and authorities of districts. 

All administrative documents will be in electronic form, while 80 percent of administrative procedures of departments, agencies, people’s committees of wards, communes, and districts will be processed online at the third and fourth level.
