Dong Da District People's Committee have just announced a plan to build pedestrianised street around the Temple of Literature this year. The district will also open Hoang Cau-Hao Nam Pedestrian Street early next year.

Ba Dinh District People’s Committee are also preparing to open a pedestrian street around Ngoc Khanh Lake in the fourth quarter of this year. This pedestrian street will include 3,800 square metres of a flower garden on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street.

The Ngoc Khanh Lake pedestrian area includes Pham Huy Thong Street and eight branches linking Ngoc Khanh Lake with Kim Ma, Nguyen Chi Thanh and La Thanh streets.

Initially, the street will be open between 9 am and 10 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Local authorities would then consider opening the street for the whole week.

The capital currently has five pedestrian zones including the areas around Hoan Kiem Lake, the Old Quarter, Trinh Cong Son Street, Son Tay’s old citadel, and Tran Nhan Tong Street.

Trinh Cong Son Pedestrianised Street has just been closed since early this year for renovation work and is expected to reopen in May.
