Vietnam Mobile Day 2016, the largest of a series of IT events in 2016, will be held in Ha Noi on June 25 and Da Nang on July 2.
Over 3,000 participants and 150 influential IT enterprises are expected to attend these events, which will be organised by Vietnam E-Commerce Association (VECOM) and Applancer Topdev.
This year's event has received contributions from major global IT players such as Google, Nielsen and Verisign, which is also one of the key sponsors.
"Vietnam Mobile Day 2016 is a good platform for enterprises to gain knowledge in the fields of mobile e-commerce, business and technology. A strong online presence will ensure that enterprises are more visible to a wider audience, which I believe will definitely increase profitability in the long term," Nguyen Thanh Hung, president of VECOM, said.
"A strong online presence requires a successful website with the right domain name. Considered the global standard for doing business online, numerous global enterprises, including Fortune 500 companies, have chosen the .com address to build their websites, with the desire of extending beyond the local audience," Hung said.
With mobile Internet penetration reaching 57.56 per cent of the total population, Vietnamese consumers consider online shopping with the use of mobile devices more convenient and secure.
The Vietnam E-Commerce Report 2015 states that 88 per cent of Internet users conducted an online search for information on products or services via a mobile device before making any decisions.
However, the report said only 26 per cent of business websites were mobile-friendly.
Evidently, the demand for mobile e-commerce has increased. But enterprises are not yet ready to meet the needs of their customers by offering mobile-friendly websites.
