The city authorities will decide on the colour next year. From 2019 to 2024, taxi firms in Hanoi must use the assigned colour for their new cars. From 2025, all taxi cabs must have the same colour.

Hanoi authorities will also set up two operating zones: in the inner city and the other areas. Taxis must not take more than two minutes to pick up or drop off passengers and spend 70% of the time operate in the registered zones.

The taxis must have all required equipment such as GPS, taxi badge, and taxi meter and taxi firms must have online bank accounts to pay fees or fines more easily.

The Department of Transport advised taxi firms to install iParking, traffic control software that connects the management agencies with transport firms, taxi cars and passengers.

From July 1, 2018, taxi firms must install a management software similar to Uber and Grab.

Statistics from the Department of Transport show that Hanoi has 77 taxi firms with over 19,000 cars. They serve 110 million passengers a year, meeting 2% of the travel demands.
