Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung made the statement while meeting with the ASOCIO Chairman David Wong Nan Fay in Hanoi on October 24.
Chung said that in the past two years, the city set up a prevalent server in 584 wards and communes to speed up administrative reforms and public service application for local people.
The city is particularly interested in building database and applying information technology (IT) in the operation of transport system, firefighting, data analysis and system security, he said, adding that it is working with foreign corporations to build the largest database centres in the country as well as branching softwares to run smart parking lots or use energy-saving light systems.
The ASOCIO Chairman said that ASOCIO represents the interests of 24 economies in Asia-Pacific with proactive members like Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, and India.
ASOCIO has organised a number of conferences to introduce smart city index which features measures to evaluate IT application in city management, he stated, highlighting the federation wants to organise the same conference in Hanoi in 2018.
It will create opportunities for Hanoi to learn experience in smart city, he said.-VNA
