On January 29, authorities in Phu Cat commune, Hanoi confirmed they had resolved a case involving an accidental bank transfer thanks to the proactive actions of 36-year-old Hà Thị Kim Thoa.
At around 1:30 p.m. on January 28, Thoa - who resides in Viet Yen hamlet, Phu Cat commune - visited the local police station to report that her personal bank account had just received a large, unexplained deposit.
After receiving the report, Phu Cat commune’s police leadership instructed officers to act quickly, advising Thoa to keep the funds untouched and initiating coordination with the bank and relevant authorities to identify the origin of the transfer.
By the evening of the same day, their investigation confirmed that Nguyen Van Kien, a 55-year-old resident of Bac Giang ward in Bac Ninh province, had mistakenly transferred the money into Thoa’s account.
With all parties present, police facilitated the return of the full amount at around 7:00 p.m.
At the handover, Kien expressed deep gratitude to Thoa and the Phu Cat police for their help. “I’m truly touched and grateful,” he said.
Local authorities praised Thoa’s actions as a model of civic responsibility and personal integrity, calling her a shining example of the “Good People, Good Deeds” spirit promoted within the community.
Her actions also highlighted the effectiveness of grassroots police forces in managing and resolving citizen-related asset disputes quickly and transparently.
