People in Hanoi are finding many ways to shade themselves from the blazing sun while travelling on streets including wearing long coats or blankets.

The northern region is under a severe hot spell with the highest temperature in some locations reached 45 degrees and going out becomes an unwanted task. According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the heat wave will last for several more days.

The highest temperature in Hanoi is 37-39 degrees and the city will experience 11-16 hours of average temperatures above 35 degrees. At some places, it has reached 50 degrees Celcius outdoor.

Many people wear long coats, masks and sunglasses to avoid the sun. Others even brought out towels and blankets to cover up their bodies. When there are red lights, people gather in shaded spots instead of going near the white lines.
