A corner of the Thanh Nien Street by Hanoi’s West Lake in Hanoi is busy every weekend as old bicycle lovers gather to share experiences or trade their bikes.

The market brings together old bike lovers, while elder people remember their past time when bicycles were a main means of transportation in the city.

Nguyen Viet Bang who owns two Peugeot bikes since the 1950s said that they used to be the dream of many people.

"A bike like this cost nearly two taels of gold so only wealthy people could have them at that time," Bang said.

Bang added that most of the bikes here are from the 1960s, as few people have those from the 1950.

"Our bikes are mainly Peugeot, Mecier which were bought abroad.

The market is an ideal place to find a vintage bike and spare-parts.
