Many people are flocking to West Lake for a swim as a heat wave hits Hanoi over the last few days.
On May 16, many citizens were seen swimming at West Lake as temperatures reached 38 degrees in Hanoi. West Lake is a popular destination for gathering and swimming during the hot season. The section of the lake near Nhat Chieu Street was the most crowded, especially from 5 pm to 6 pm.
Pham Tuan Anh, a local of Tay Ho District, said he often walked his pet around the West Lake.
"The air here is cool and much more relaxed than the swimming pool centres. And I can walk my pet too," he said.
Parents brought their children out to swim in the lake. Despite posted warning signs against drowning, many weren't wearing life jackets while swimming or keeping a close watch on children.
