Authorities successfully collected 7,083 sets of remains samples for DNA analysis, while samples could not be obtained in 2,759 cases.
The Department of Home Affairs also recently coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Military Command to organize a solemn reburial ceremony for the remains of 731 fallen soldiers recovered from Le Thi Rieng Park.
The remains were transferred to the Ho Chi Minh City Martyrs' Cemetery for burial with full honors.
A representative of the department said the city would continue implementing support policies for people who rendered meritorious service to the nation and their families during the remaining months of the year.
These include funeral allowances, one-time financial assistance and support for the worship and remembrance of fallen soldiers.
The city will also seek approval to provide assistive devices and orthopedic equipment to eligible beneficiaries whose existing equipment is due for replacement.
In addition, authorities will review lists of beneficiaries eligible for residential rehabilitation and home-based care.
The Department of Home Affairs is also monitoring plans to transfer the Southern Meritorious Service Rehabilitation Center and the Long Dat Rehabilitation Center for War Invalids and People with Meritorious Service to the city's management.
Looking ahead, Ho Chi Minh City will continue participating in the nationwide 500-day campaign to search for, recover and identify the remains of fallen soldiers.
The city will also prepare activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's War Invalids and Martyrs Day and arrange support for beneficiaries ahead of the 2027 Lunar New Year, the Year of the Goat.
