Tran Quang Lam, deputy director of HCM City Department of Transportation, told a conference of the Ministry of Transport on July 17 that HCM City had applied many measures and built a series of works to reduce congestion.

Lam said that of these 37 points of congestion, traffic jams at 25 points had been reduced by 50% and 2 points by 20%; 10 points have more serious congestion.

Lam insisted that the handling of traffic jams was a great concern of HCM City authorities. By the end of the year, the city's goal will be to reduce the number of the current 37 congestion points.
