From March 8 to 12:00 on August 9, HCM City received 4,111,040 doses of vaccine, with 913,204 doses still unused. "At the current vaccination rate, Ho Chi Minh City will run out of vaccines by August 12," said Nam. The city had asked the Ministry of Health for an allocation of an additional 5.5 million doses.
According to reports from some districts, most of the people in Can Gio district have been vaccinated. In Phu Nhuan district, there are 30,000 people who have not been vaccinated yet. Thu Duc City has over 100,000 people unvaccinated. Tan Binh, Binh Chanh and Binh Tan districts are vaccinating their people.
"It is estimated that by the end of August, the city needs 5.5 million doses to vaccinate 70% of people aged 18 and over and achieve the initial plan," said Nam.
According to the Center for Disease Control of Ho Chi Minh City (HCDC), from 6:30 pm on August 9 to 6:00 am on August 10, the city recorded 2,490 new infections. In the 4th outbreak starting from April 27, the city has had more than 128,200 Covid-19 cases.
