Vietnamese students and international students from nine countries are exchanging innovative ideas and culture in the 2nd International Student Science Forum that opened on Thursday in HCM City.

Themed “Industry 4.0 and building smart city,” the five-day forum aims to create an intensive integrated exchange environment and opportunities to enhance scientific research knowledge for students.

A total of 108 delegates, including 72 Vietnamese students and 36 students from nine countries: Cambodia, Cameroon, China, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Thailand are exchanging ideas on the development trends of science and technology and the inevitability of industry 4.0 as well as models and initiatives of smart city.

Participants will visit major projects, science and technology centres and historical sites in HCM City and interact with students in four universities in the city.

In the context of the country’s intensive integration, HCM City as the biggest economic and social hub of Viet Nam and the leader in many fields, has made great efforts and promoted the spirit of continuous innovation for sustainable development and successful international integration, said Nguyen Duc Nghia, deputy president of Viet Nam National University-HCM City.

Acknowledging the role of students in international integration in the breakthrough period of the Industrial 4.0 and in order to promote cooperation based on understanding culture, knowledge, the forum this year includes five main topics: Industry 4.0, models and initiatives of smart city, the fundamental technologies and smart applications in building smart city, smart services of smart city and citizens’ engagement in smart city, Nghia said.

The forum is organised by Viet Nam Union of Students-HCM City chapter in collaboration with Viet Nam National University-HCM City.
