A corner of a driving training and testing facility. The HCMC Department of Transport has installed cameras at six driving training and testing centers in the city on a pilot basis

These centers, such as the Driving Training and Testing Center at HCMC College of Transport and Cu Chi Driving Training and Testing Center, will be monitored online with cameras.

The department has asked centers to install Internet Protocol camera systems in rooms used for driving theory examinations and on driving test grounds, where many locations, such as the starting and stopping points, can be seen clearly through the cameras.

The move is aimed at ensuring driving test results are fair and accurate.

All cameras will be connected with the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam and the municipal department.

Ngo Dinh Quang, head of the division for driving test management and license issuance at the HCMC Department of Transport, pointed out that the city is home to 22 driving training and testing centers, with nine specifically for cars and the rest for motorbikes.

In the initial stage, the city piloted camera installations at six centers, and it will expand the program to other centers following a positive assessment of the efficiency of the installation, he said.

Earlier in July, the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam had asked driving training and testing centers of four departments of transport in the cities of Hanoi, HCMC, Danang and Haiphong to connect the cameras with the directorate’s systems. SGT
