According to information given by the police, the mastermind behind the ring has been identified as Nguyen Thanh Cuong, 26, residing in Cho Moi district in the Mekong Delta of An Giang province.

Upon expanding the investigation, the police were able to arrest Bui Thuy Vi, 30, of Hiep Tan ward in Tan Phu district; Pham Van Hoc, 35, of Thu Duc City; and Nguyen Dinh Truc Phuong, 39, of Son Ky ward in Tan Phu district for the crime of illegal possession of narcotics and allegedly trading illegal drugs.

The police went on to reveal that the mastermind behind the ring had conducted business since 2021 with an unidentified person named T.

In September, T contacted and asked Cuong to transport drugs from Cambodia for the purpose of reselling them in Vietnam. Cuong would gain VND5 million for every one kg of drugs sold.

According to the initial investigation, after receiving the drugs, Cuong hid them at home in Duc Hoa district in the Mekong Delta province of Long An before starting to sell the drugs through a shipping application under the direction of T.

The other suspects Bui Thuy Vy, Nguyen Dinh Truc Phuong, and Le Thanh Tam all bought drugs from Cuong with the goal of reselling them.

After searching Vy’s residence, the police officers also seized her boyfriend Nguyen Quoc Viet, 39, of Thanh Chuong district in the central province of Nghe An, who was found with two guns and 21 bullets.

At present a further investigation into the case is now underway.
