The HCM City transport sector's proposal aims to provide swift and convenient access from the city center to Long Thanh Airport, scheduled for completion in 2026.

The HCM City Department of Transport has unveiled a draft report outlining three potential waterway connections between HCM City and Long Thanh Airport, currently open for feedback from relevant stakeholders.

The first option proposes the use of high-speed boats to transport passengers from Bach Dang Wharf in District 1 to Swan Bay Marina in Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai province. This route covers a distance of 22.3km and promises a travel time of 35-45 minutes, offering a seamless journey for travelers.

Passengers would embark at Bach Dang Wharf and navigate through various rivers before reaching SwanBay Marina. From there, ground transportation options lead directly to the airport, with potential for developing waterway tourism in the SwanBay area.

The second option suggests establishing a cross-river passenger wharf from Binh Khanh, Nha Be to Nhon Trach, Dong Nai. This proposal involves constructing a new wharf on the Dong Nai side, along with enhancements to road infrastructure.

This alternative is particularly beneficial for residents in the South and Southeast of the city, with an estimated travel time of 40-45 minutes to the airport.

The third option focuses on maximizing the capacity of the existing Cat Lai ferry, catering to residents in the eastern part of HCM City. This proposal aims to provide a convenient transportation solution, especially in the absence of the Cat Lai bridge.
