According to the travel website, Ho Chi Minh City came in third place thanks to its range of cheap dishes that have an average cost of just £1.77, equivalent to VND51,000, per dish. The southern metropolis also has high a quantity of street food vendors.

Some of the most popular foods found in the city include pho, banh mi, known as a Vietnamese baguette in Western countries, and goi cuon, a type of fresh spring roll.

Hong Kong topped the rankings due to its high number of street food stalls, the city has a total of 224 vendors, received a 100 per cent score on sanitation, and plays host to a wide array of food experiences which visitors can enjoy.

Some of the unmissable cuisine found in Hong Kong includes curry fish balls, cheung fun, a type of rice noodle roll, egg tarts, egg waffles, and dim sum.

Second place on the list went to Bangkok, Thailand, with an average dish costing £1.61, equivalent to VND47,000.

Most visitors enjoy cuisine such as pad thai, khao niao mamuang, and tom yum goong.

Other notable inclusions in the top 30 include Singapore, Mumbai in India, Rome in Italy, Tel Aviv in Israel, and Sydney in Australia.

The index ranks cities based on four factors: number of vendors; affordability; number of street food experiences or tours; and sanitation. VOV
