The event, which will end on May 19, has attracted more than 6,500 athletes from 24 districts in HCM City, performing in 31 different types of sports.

Nguyen Thi Thu, deputy chairwoman of HCM City People’s Committee, said the games play an important role in promoting and improving the quality of physical education and sport science in the city.

In November, the top-performing members of the HCM City team will take part in the 8th Viet Nam National Games in Hanoi.

The HCM City Sport Games is a multi-sport event involving participants from all city districts held every four years. - VNS
