Heavy downpours today, April 1, have turned many streets in HCM City into rivers, affecting drivers.

The rains occurred this afternoon, putting streets in several local districts under water. 

District 2 and Thu Duc and Binh Thanh District saw the rains the most along with strong winds. Roads such as National Highway 1A, National Highway 13 and Pham Van Dong Streets are quite deeply inundated.

Traffic congestion lasted for more than an hour in areas under Binh Loi Bridge.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorology Forecasting, the southern region would face rains in the first ten days of April.

Strong winds and thunderbolts have also been forecasted.
