Ho Chi Minh City’s authorities are planning to use artificial intelligence (AI) to support its scheme to develop a smart city.
Though HCM City has applied AI technologies in a number of sectors, it lags behind other cities in the world in AI research and training. The city should catch up with the global trend of AI. Such efforts include investment in training skilled workers and building an open-source database.
In addition, training in the field remains limited because of a lack of funding, adding that both State and business investments are badly needed.
Although HCM City has paid great attention to AI, the city lacks a staff capable of accessing AI research at the global level. Linkages between the state, enterprises, scientists and investors should also be promoted.
Expert said the city should build a digital infrastructure, issue incentive policies to encourage enterprises to apply AI, and improve human resources in AI.-VNA
