A festival for amateur and professional magicians in the southern provinces opens in HCM City on October 29.
Members of the Đồng Nai Province’s Magic Club will take part in the HCM City Magic Festival.
The two-day event, organised by the city’s cultural centre, aims to offer a platform, especially for young people, to meet and share their skills in the performing arts.
The event has attracted nearly 100 performers, including 40 artists from eight magic clubs in the city and the provinces of Tien Giang, Vung Tau, Dong Nai and Binh Duong, as well as freelance magicians from the southern provinces.
The performers will present a wide range of new and traditional magic acts.
The jury consists of performers, including People’s Artists Tam Chinh and Vu Ngoan Hop, Meritorious Artist Tri Tuong and magician Tran Dinh, who have previously been judges in international and local magic festivals.
Dinh, artistic director of the Vung Tau Province’s Circus and Magic Troupe, said: “The festival aims to search for young talent in magic as well as promote the performing arts in Vietnam.”
The organiser will award three first prizes, four second prizes and six third prizes. Nine prizes will be given to young performers to encourage them to develop their career.
The festival’s preliminary round will be held at the city’s cultural centre in District 1 on October 29, while the finale will take place at District 12’s Cultural Centre on October 30.
