In a reception in the city on August 24 for Co-Presidents of the Japan-Vietnam Economic Cooperation Committee Keohei Takahashi and Kuniharu Nakamura, Liem asked Japan to hasten the construction of metro railway system No.1 to ensure it is finished by 2019 as scheduled.

The city is prioritising supporting industry, hi-tech agriculture and high technology, Liem said.

Nakamura said a number of Japanese enterprises have invested in infrastructure projects in Vietnam and achieved positive results, notably the metro railway line No.1 linking Ben Thanh and Suoi Tien.

Takahashi, who is also from the Japan Business Federation, informed his host that the Japanese government is accelerating technology transfer to close partners.

The federation hoped that municipal authorities would provide all possible support for businesses, including those from Japan, he said.
