Work on the tunnel segment of the intersection project near the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City in District 9 has yet to be started.

Although construction on the intersection project near the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City in District 9 began in April, 2017, work on the tunnel segment has yet to be started.

According to Nguyen Van Tam, Vice Director of the municipal Department of Transport, the authority is studying the project’s feasibility to connect with transport in Binh Duong province.

Slow land clearance and compensation has also troubled An Suong Crossroads project in the city’s northwest gateway. A twin tunnel connecting Truong Chinh Street up to Highway 22 had a total investment of more than 20 million USD. The first underground road will open to traffic in March while the second has not been constructed due to land issues in Hoc Mon district.

Also, the city’s much-awaited flood prevention project is going to miss its April deadline due to relocation issues in the area designated for construction.

Nguyen Tam Tien, General Director of Trung Nam Group, developer of the Built-Transfer project, said the project is 70 percent complete as of February and once necessary land is available, it will take his workers a further six months to finish.

The project covers 100 hectares in Districts 1, 4, 7 and 8, Binh Chanh District and Nha Be District. Site clearance was supposed to be completed by July last year, however, hundreds of families in District 7 have yet to be relocated.-VNA
