A large water pump is installed on the flood-prone Nguyen Huu Canh Street in downtown HCMC

The HCMC government has sent a notice to the relevant agencies and departments, informing them of the temporary rent for the water pump installed on the flood-prone Nguyen Huu Canh Street. The new rate is much lower than the VND24 billion/year fee previously demanded by the owner, Quang Trung Industry JSC.

Accordingly, the Steering Center of the HCMC Urban Flood Control Program is waiting for the competent agencies to direct acceptance and payment procedures, in line with prevailing regulations; approve having the center temporarily pay the owner the rent for one year for the water pump; and allow the center to use the repair and maintenance fund for 2018 to make the temporary payment.

Besides this, the HCMC government also assigned the municipal Department of Finance, the State Treasury of HCMC and the Department of Transport to instruct the center to complete advance and regular payment procedures, in line with regulations.

Quang Trung Industry JSC earlier proposed the municipal government use the antiflooding pump on Nguyen Huu Canh Street, with a capacity of 97,000 cubic meters per hour, from October 2, 2017, pledging not to collect rent if the pump did not work well. After its use, the city determined it worked efficiently.
