A heat wave engulfed the North on Monday, with temperatures rising by one to two degrees Celsius, according to the National Centre for Hydrometeorological Forecasting.

Rain is forecast on Tuesday to beat the heat in the north. 

The temperatures in Vinh Yen City of Vinh Phuc Province are forecast to touch 36-37 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures ranging from 33 to 35 degrees Celsius are forecast in other localities.

Hanoi's temperature is forecast to reach 33-35 degrees Celsius.

Rainfall and thunderstorms are expected to occur on Tuesday.

The hot weather is also forecast on Monday in the central localities from Da Nang to Binh Thuan, with the maximum temperature reaching up to 36 degrees Celsius.

On Sunday evening, a heavy downpour that lasted for several hours caused floods in some areas in Hanoi, blocking traffic flow in the inner districts.
