The North Central region may see some places receiving over 200mm. A heat wave is forecasted to return around June 28.

Today (June 23), scattered showers and thunderstorms were reported in the Northern, Central, Central Highlands, and Southern regions, with locally heavy rain.

Some places already received significant rainfall from 0:00 to 14:00, including Dam Ha (Quang Ninh) with 83.6mm, Hai Duong (Nam Dinh) with 72.2mm, Minh Hop (Nghe An) with 59.8mm, Nong Cong (Thanh Hoa) with 59.6mm, Khe Tre (Thua Thien Hue) with 59.4mm, and Mo Rai (Kon Tum) with 64.6mm.

This evening and tonight, scattered showers and thunderstorms continued in the Northern and Central regions, with some places receiving 20-40mm of rain, and others over 90mm. The Central Highlands and the South also saw scattered showers and thunderstorms, with rainfall from 15-30mm, and some places over 70mm.

From tomorrow evening (June 24) to June 26, the Northern and North Central regions are expected to experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with some areas receiving very heavy rain.

Rainfall is forecasted to be 70-150mm, with some places in the Northern region receiving over 250mm, and 50-100mm in the North Central region, with some places over 200mm.

The Hydrometeorological Station of the Northern Delta and Midlands also predicts that due to the influence of a low-pressure trough combined with strong wind convergence in the upper atmosphere, Hanoi will have scattered showers and thunderstorms this evening and tonight, with some places receiving heavy rain.

Rainfall is expected to be 15-30mm, with some areas over 50mm. From tomorrow evening to June 26, Hanoi is likely to have moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind, with total rainfall expected to be 50-100mm, and some places over 150mm.

Additionally, the Central Central region will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms from tonight until June 27, with locally heavy rain in the evenings. Thunderstorms in the Central Highlands and the South will decrease from June 25, but scattered showers and thunderstorms will persist in the afternoons and evenings.

The meteorological agency warns of potential tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong winds during thunderstorms. Heavy rain could lead to flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes, and flooding in low-lying areas.

Following the heavy rain, from around June 28-29, there is a possibility of widespread heat waves in the Northern region, from Thanh Hoa to Binh Dinh.
