The tropical depression may strengthen into a storm

According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, as of July 30, the tropical depression was 400km away from the Paracel Islands with a wind speed of 40-50km per hour.
In the next 24 hours, it will move in the west north-west direction at the speed of 15-20km per hour.
On July 31, it will be 200km away from China's Hainan Island. The wind speed will be 50-60km per hour.
High waves have been forecasted as the tropical depression may strengthen into a storm.
On August 1, it will be 200km away from Mong Cai, Quang Ninh Province with a wind speed of 60-90km per hour. In the next 48 to 72 hours, it will continue moving in the west-north-west direction and will get even stronger.
Because of the depression and wind convergence, rains are forecasted for the northern region on the night of July 30.
The mountainous provinces such as Lai Chau, Dien Bien and Ha Giang will have heavy rains with 20-50mm of rainfall for 12 hours, some places will have more than 70mm of rainfall.
The rains will mostly occur at night and early morning of July 31.
