VietNamNet Bridge - French President Francois Hollande paid a visit to the Old Quarter and the Kim Ngan Temple in Hanoi while President Jacques Chirac came to the Museum of Ethnology in Hanoi.

French President Francois Hollande talked with French tourists in the Old Quarter on September 6.


Hollande is the third French President to visit Vietnam. During his visit on September 6-7, he went to some famous places such as the Hanoi Old Quarter and the ancient temple of Kim Ngan in Hanoi.

François Mitterrand was the first president of France and the first head of state of a Western country who visited Vietnam after 1975. 

The visit was made on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Vietnam-France diplomatic relations.

He also visited the bunker of General de Castries' bunker in Dien Bien Phu. 

In 1997, President Jacques Chirac participated in the inauguration of the Museum of Ethnology in Hanoi. 

During his second visit to Vietnam in 2004, Mr. Jacques Chirac visited the Thang Long Royal Citadel.
