During a recent press conference, Nguyen Thanh Hoa, Head of the Electronic Information Department at the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications, stated that the initiative to compile and manage the list of Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) is not intended for punitive purposes.

This initiative aims to leverage the strengths of influential individuals and organizations on social media to promote events, images, and major policies of Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Hoa, categorizing KOLs by industry will help the city proactively manage data and respond promptly to communication crises.

Previously, Lam Dinh Thang, Director of the Department of Information and Communications, revealed that there are currently about 720 KOLs active on social media in Ho Chi Minh City. These influencers focus on various topics such as technology, culture, history, and tourism.

The city has successfully utilized these influencers in promotional activities, such as the recent river festival, where KOLs played a crucial role in promoting Ho Chi Minh City's image to both domestic and international audiences.
