Jordan Vogt-Roberts, director of the latest Hollywood blockbuster “Kong: Skull Island,” shared his thoughts in a trailer about the movie making time in the central coast province of Quang Binh. The movie is expected to hit local and world theaters on March 10.

During six months, the film crew had to shoot in three continents, from Oahu of Hawaii to Gold Coast of Australia and especially many landscapes in Vietnam. 

During three weeks in Vietnam, the team came to shoot at Tu Lan and Phong Nha caves in Quang Binh, and Trang An eco-tourist site and Van Long Lagoon in the northern province of Ninh Binh and the World Heritage-listed Halong Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh.

Director Vogt-Roberts showed his special interest in the beautiful nature of Quang Binh and came back to the site for a visit after the movie was completed.

“All of Quang Binh is so special to me. Each part of Vietnam and its people have given me different minds and feelings. And as soon as we came in Quang Binh, during the first moments I said I have to shoot here and we have to come to Vietnam.”

Kong: Skull Island has a setting in 1973 when Landsat, a program for acquisition of satellite imagery of Earth by NASA, was launched. 

That is when people discover about the Skull Island which no one has ever known before. 

The island with its mysteries is a major factor to help bring the fascination for the movie of legendary King Kong.

Director Jordan Vogt-Robert added that Quang Binh seems to be another world to him and he wishes that people could realize the special values of the place they live in, the place that is incredibly rare, beautiful and unique.
