The award has encouraged me to move forward."

Tuan said, in the past 20 years, that intense fire inside him helped him overcome difficulties to develop in new areas.

"I always started from zero such as creating and building the VietNamNet online newspaper. After the success of VietNamNet I went to the US to build the Boston Global Forum, also from zero. The journey and desire of mine is to create new value for humanity, with influence on peace, security and development in the world," Tuan said.

Responsibility to the Fatherland

Navy soldier Nguyen Trung Thanh received the award in 2014 for realizing his mission of defending the country’s sovereignty in the sea. Thanh was busy at work on a far island so he did not know that he was nominated for the award until he was invited to attend the award ceremony.

"Defending the country’s sovereignty is the mission of soldiers like me. In the time to come I’ll continue to strive my best to fulfill my task and responsibilities to defend the national sovereignty," Thanh said.

Entrepreneur Vo Quoc Thang said that during the 20 years after receiving the award, he has realized his responsibility to contribute more to society. Thang has participated in management of and investment in football, and in activities of the youth union as the chairman of the Association of Young Entrepreneurs.

"The award has nurtured my passion and determination. I wish to continue sharing my determination and my experience of overcoming failure to success to young people. With my existing capabilities, I am willing to contribute to activities of the Youth Union and the national movement of youth," Thang said.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan, Chair of the Sponsorship Council of the Vietnam Young Talent Assistance Fund, said: "In this atmosphere of joy, we cannot be satisfied with our achievement! Let’s review what we achieved in the last 20 years and what we will have to do in the future."

"20 years ago we tried to escape poverty, based on manual labor, but the situation is different now. We have become an average income country, but the risk of lagging behind is clear. To switch from intensive labor-based development to knowledge-based development, we need the contribution of young talents."
