Subscriber verification can now be completed quickly through telecom mobile applications without visiting service points.

Many Vietnamese citizens living and working abroad have expressed concerns about how to verify their mobile subscriber information without returning home. Telecom providers now offer a convenient solution that allows the entire process to be completed remotely.

Instead of visiting service points in person, users can carry out verification directly through mobile applications such as MyVNPT, MyViettel, or MyMobiFone.

A representative from VinaPhone said that customers abroad can successfully complete the process if they meet several basic requirements.

Simple steps through mobile apps

Using the MyVNPT application as an example, users only need to download the app and log in with their phone number via a one-time password (OTP). From there, they can access the “Subscriber Information” section and select “Verify now.”

Users then choose the “Scan chip-based ID card” option and follow the on-screen instructions. If all necessary conditions are prepared, the process takes only a few minutes.

A chip-based citizen ID card is mandatory, as the system uses technology that directly verifies data stored on the chip.

Due to access limitations from overseas, users cannot complete verification via the VNeID platform and must instead rely on scanning the chip-based ID card.

Key requirements to complete verification

In addition to the ID card, users must have a smartphone equipped with NFC functionality to read the chip.

The mobile number being verified must also be able to receive SMS messages to obtain the OTP.

A key requirement is that the verification must be carried out by the subscriber themselves, as the system includes facial recognition (eKYC) to match with data on the chip-based ID card.

If the SIM card is being used abroad, customers need to activate international roaming and GPRS services to receive OTP messages. It is also recommended to turn off mobile data and use WiFi to avoid unnecessary charges.

In cases where the SIM card remains in Vietnam, users can ask a relative to insert it into a phone, turn it on to receive the OTP, and share the code so the user can log into the MyVNPT app remotely.

Ensuring compliance and uninterrupted connectivity

Verifying subscriber information is not only a regulatory requirement but also a way for users to protect their rights and minimize risks related to identity fraud.

For Vietnamese living abroad, completing verification early helps maintain stable communication with family, business partners, and essential services in Vietnam.

A VinaPhone representative added that, alongside optimizing remote verification solutions, the provider is implementing a range of support measures across its network to ensure all customers can complete the process on time.

Service points nationwide have increased staffing and extended working hours, including beyond standard office hours, to handle peak demand.

Support teams are also reaching out directly to residential areas, assisting elderly and less tech-savvy users in completing verification quickly and conveniently.

Meanwhile, hotlines, online channels, and customer service teams remain fully operational, ready to assist both domestic users and those living abroad.

These coordinated efforts reflect the provider’s commitment not only to regulatory compliance but also to prioritizing customer experience, ensuring the verification process is smooth and does not disrupt communication.
