The peaceful fishing village which sits near Thuan An Beach is home to hundreds of colossal, colourful tombs of all shapes and sizes built on a cemetery of some 40 hectares, and the local people call it the City of Ghosts.

According to local people, there is a land of the dead that isn't heaven, or hell. It is called Beyond Paradise.

With that belief, local people invest billions into building tombs for their ancestors in a large seaside cemetery.

As they have become more wealthy, the tombs have become bigger.

Besides building beautiful tombs for their ancestors, people also build them for themselves so that they will have the "houses" they want after death.

The tomb decoration and cleaning services have created good income for many local people.

The decoration is the most expensive service in building the tombs, with many sophisticated stone-carving and painting work.

The village has attracted both domestic and foreign tourists and local people are expecting it to become a famous tourist attraction in Hue.
