The use of data stored in the VNeID app to verify passenger identity during check-in and security screening was successfully tested at Cat Bi, Van Don, Phu Bai and Noi Bai airports.

The trial where the level-2 eID accounts could replace the plastic ID card or other travel documents is only applied to domestic flights and is voluntary.

At check-in counters, security checkpoints and boarding pass scanning desks, passengers will have their level-2 eID accounts inspected by authorized officers visually. In case any irregularity is detected, the officers will verify it using their own accounts to scan the QR code of the passenger account.

Level-2 eID accounts provide personal information which can be used to conduct  public services, integrate information for vehicle registration, replace chip-based ID card, report crimes, and notify residence.
