VietNamNet Bridge – Some say all original thought is simply undetected plagiarism, and most undergrad students know a thing or two about ripping off idea’s from others, but at least kids cover their tracks.

But not all adults know how to get away with cheating, according to the Education Viet Nam e-newspaper.

Tran Hoang Long, deputy principal of the University of Economic and Technical Industries under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), copied an article written by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in his PhD thesis, the newspaper reported on December 23.

In 2009, when PM Phuc was Chairman of the Governmental Office, he wrote an article about administrative reform. The article was published in Nhan Dan (The People) newspaper on August 28, 2009.

The article was about Government Decision No 30, which created agreement in administrative procedures, helping individuals, organisations and enterprises while completing administrative procedures.

Long copied two thirds of PM Phuc’s article in his thesis’s page 161 and 162 without quoting the politician once.

He also copied from the September 2009 edition of the Central Institute for Economic Management’s magazine.

On February 3, 2012, a council assessing Long’s thesis for the Trade Research Institute under the MoIT approved his thesis, with six out of seven members assessing his work as excellent.

It seems the deputy principal needs to go back to school, either to learn some morals, or to learn how not to get caught.
