Three naval ships of India anchored at Tien Sa Port in Da Nang on May 21, beginning a five-day courtesy visit to the central city.

The ships include multi-role frigate INS Sahyadri, oil tanked INS Shakti and corvette INS Kamorta with a total of 913 officers and sailors on board, led by Rear Admiral Dinesh Tripathi, Commander of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet.

During the five-day trip, the crews will pay courtesy visits to leaders of the city’s People’s Committee and the High Command of Naval Region 3.

They will take part in basketball matches with officers and soldiers of the Naval Region 3 and students of Da Nang University and stage at a brass music show for the public at Bien Dong Park in Da Nang.

They will also explore the city as well as My Son sanctuary - a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Hoi An ancient city in the neighbouring province of Quang Nam.

The navies of the two countries will hold a joint exercise on the last day of the visit.

The visit of Indian Navy ships aims to enhance cooperation, mutual understanding and trust between the two armies and naval forces in particular. It is also expected to further foster the traditional friendship between Vietnam and India.
