The Indonesian authorities, in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy in Jakarta, completed procedures to repatriate 10 Vietnamese fishermen on January 21.
Representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy see off the fishermen at the airport.
The fishermen, due to limits in foreign languages and a lack of legal
knowledge, were arrested and put on trial for violations of Indonesian
sea territory.
Most of them were detained from a few months to two years.
According to the Vietnamese Embassy, the Indonesian authorities will
release about 30 Vietnamese fishermen from now to the Lunar New Year
(which falls on February 8 this year).
On January 20, three fishermen were sent back home.
